Struise Tsjeeses

Christmas Belgium Strong Pale Ale, abv 10%

Appearance: Dark red pour. Off-white creamy looking head. Settled to a half a finger head. Little lacing.

Smell: Carmel yeasty smell. Its very earthy and spices. Cloves and herbs. Good apricot.

Taste: Mixture of clove, anise, ginger, and cinnamon. Some nutmeg followed by a large yeasty taste. The yeast is in the forefront in this beer. Some great sweet molasses tasting yeast.

Mouthfeel: Medium body. Low carbonation.

Overall: Great beer. Very different than most christmas/winter beers I've had. Most of it's flavor relies on its yeast taste. It is a great taste, the spices are playing background. It is a outstanding beer that just makes me warm all over.

4.1/5
